A SWISS INITIATIVE FOR POETIC LIFE
Mersedes Mein

Accros the Surface
50 x 70 cm
Accros The Surface explores the link where it becomes fragile, where it persists without ever fully rooting itself. The blue, shared with other works in the journey, does not open here into welcoming depth; it is interrupted, restrained, crossed by a grey zone acting as a surface of friction. This central grey is neither emptiness nor neutrality. It marks a limit, a sensitive threshold where contact occurs without immersion. The link does not unfold through depth but through tension. It clings, adjusts, and remains on the surface, as if fearing rupture as much as abandonment. The work evokes an exposed relationship, sustained through touch rather than continuity, through adhesion rather than depth. Within The Link, Accros The Surface reveals this precarious yet persistent form of relationship, where the link exists not through stability but through the discreet effort required to maintain it.
A link maintained in the tension of contact, at the fragile limit of the surface.
Or alternatively, A fragile link, sustained by the fear of losing contact and the desire to remain close despite uncertainty.

Overall Narrative Coherence of Mersedes Mein’s Works for LE LIEN Exhibition
The journey through Mersedes Mein’s works explores multiple manifestations of relationship through a sensitive cartography of the forms of the link. Each work proposes a singular approach to relationship, explored as inner experience, tension of contact, enveloping presence, organic balance, discreet attachment, shared space, relational interval, and temporal continuity. Through Touches of Depth, relationship inscribes itself within the sensitive thickness of matter, revealing the link as layered inner experience. Accros The Surface addresses the fragility of contact, where the link persists within threshold tension and effort of proximity. Embrace as Link introduces an enveloping dimension of the link founded on welcome and chromatic containment. Balance in Connection explores the link as living equilibrium between distinct forces, proposing an organic reading of coexistence. Subtle Ties focuses on discreet attachments, revealing relationship within silent continuity of presences. In Relation develops the idea of shared space structured by a luminous centre and stabilizing periphery, suggesting the link as shared territory. Between Us deepens the dimension of relational interval, where distance becomes space of link construction. Finally, Continuation introduces the temporality of relationship, presenting the link as trajectory and progressive transformation of presences. Together, Mersedes Mein’s works compose a journey where relationship unfolds through multiple states. The exhibition proposes a progressive traversal of the forms of the link, revealing its complexity, fragility, and ability to persist through time.
Explanation of Possible Contexts of Dialogue with Spaces
Possible contexts of dialogue with spaces do not constitute placement recommendations nor mandatory instructions. They propose reflective pathways through which works may interact with environments of living, working, or meeting. These suggestions invite collectors, institutions, and audiences to consider the works as presences capable of engaging with the human and social dynamics of the spaces in which they are installed.
